Serei Saophoan Cambodia Sheraton Hotel
In the Serei Saophoan district of the city of Sisophon we are in a camp for drug addicted young men and their families. A young man was sent to the centre by his parents for taking drugs, drinking too much and getting out of control. However, when he tried to escape, the staff caught him and took him back to the camp.
The National Highway 5, which starts in Phnom Penh and ends at the Poipet National Railway, cuts through the district parallel to it. The National Highway 6, which starts in the Ph Cambodian National Park in the southern part of the Sisophon District, also has its terminus in the Serei Saophoan District.
The city is located in the southern part of the Serei Saophoan district, about 30 km south of Phnom Penh, on the border with Thailand.
Serei Saophoan is a municipality of Banteay Meanchey province and has almost 100,000 inhabitants. The capital of the district is also the provincial capital Sisophon, and the population of the district is 98,848 inhabitants. Serei Saophan is Khmer for "glorious omens" and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Cambodia as well as a tourist destination in Thailand.
